Hoop Night is your daily preview of televised NCAA hoops. You'll be watching Duke/Temple on TV, Marco will be watching it in person. He promises to glare at Coach K really hard for us.
Don't Miss
UNC-Asheville at #1 North Carolina - 7pm, ESPNU
KENNY GEORGE ALERT!!! Yes, I am probably the only person not located in the state of North Carolina who considers this game to be a must-see. But hear me out. Kenny George, beloved 7'7" UNCA center, will be traveling to Chapel Hill. Even if the Tarheels find a way to shoot through, over, or around him, the visual will be a true sight to see. You may very well be seeing both of these teams in March, so check them out early. I guarantee at least a couple of blocks and a bushel-basket full of rebounds from Kenny G.
Watch if You've ever Wondered if a Panther could beat a Bull
#18 Pitt at South Florida - 7:30pm, ESPN2
Pitt is struggling to find chemistry in the wake of an injury-plagued fall from grace. Going on the road in-conference probably isn't the best way to do that, and USF (10-5) is playing fairly well behind the massive frame of Wooden Award nominee Kentrell Gransberry (15ppg, 12rpg). This could be another downer for the Panthers.

#7 Duke at Temple - 7pm, ESPN
Some of you may know that Marco is our man inside the Temple SID's office. The afternoons spent setting up for men's tennis or women's fencing are finally paying off, as he gets to do the full insider schmear at this huge non-con game for the Owls. I mean, Temple's going to get their neuticles squashed, but at least Marco will be there to see it.

I'll be watching that UNC-Ashville assuming its on espn360 tonight also for an hour before Syracuse plays Cincy. And please let South Florida beat Pitt because A)I think Pitt vastly overrated and B) I want S.U.'s win over South florida saturday to look better.
Um, Tennessee/Mississippi anyone?
URI/Dayton is on CSTV for those of you that care.
I imagine a lot of these are regional telecasts, because they didn't show up on the two places I check for national TV.
Three things:
1. I know Pitt has two starters out, but its a complete slap in the face to them when they are only 2 1/2 point favorites over South Florida, even if its at USF.
2. NC State cannot score. They are going nowhere this year if they struggle scoring against NC Central (or whoever they played) and Presbyterian.
3. When I was watching the UNC/Clemson game, I kept on thinking that this game proved that this year's team is not going to crap the bed in conference play like they did last year. After tonight's performance, I might have to reconsider.
If I can recommend anything to my good friends here at STF, it is see Kenny George play in person if the chance ever presents itself. Television and the Internet do no justice.
NC State's box scores remind me of high school box scores in the local paper. For JV games.
A few more observations:
1. Mississippi is legit. They were down around 10-12 points for a large portion of the 2nd half and they turned it on big time and almost pulled that one out in Tennessee. They showed me a lot.
2. Bruce Pearl won that game when with about 2:30 left he decided to use the trap. He all but shut down the Mississippi offense, which had been surging for a last couple minutes and ultimately lead to the victory.
3. Arizona State is a dangerous team. They played a hell of a game and basically shut out Chase Buddinger from the point I turend the game on till the end of the game (Miss/Tenn ran a bit late) and they have more playmakers than you can shake a stick at.
Herb Sendeck is awesome too. That guy is a winner.
Matt -
I live near two teams in the conference (Liberty and VMI), so I might just go see the big man. I think VMI would be fun to watch, though they'd be running the poor giant out of the gym just like Carolina did.
