Hoop Night is your daily preview of televised NCAA basketball action. The words "Big Monday" sound soooo sweet.
Don't Miss
#8 Georgetown at #18 Pitt - 7pm, ESPN
Pitt has been preparing for the inside presence of Roy Hibbert all weekend, and now, suddenly, they have to guard him on the perimeter. That's just not fair. Sam Young has been coming up big all season long for Pitt, and this will be a major test of his consistency.
Watch if you Remember 1988
Oklahoma at #3 Kansas - 9pm, ESPN
It's been 20 years since Kansas won the NCAA title by beating a run-n-gun OU team that had stymied them in the regular season. Danny Manning is now on the Kansas bench, and Dave Sieger has just hit another three to put the Sooners ahead again. Tonight's game features an OU roster full of non-household names like Blake Griffin (14ppg/9rpg), Tony Crocker (11ppg/3apg), and 6'11" Center Longar Longar.
Tivo it and Compare it to Memphis
Gonzaga at Pepperdine - Midnight, ESPN
Most of us have gotten a peek at Gonzaga by now, and despite their recent up-and-down play, they should handily beat Pepperdine. What's interesting is that the Waves are coached by Vance Walberg, who taught John Calipari the AASAA offensive system that is paying such dividends in Memphis this season. The Waves are 6-11 on the season, so it's not working quite so well out west. Hopefully, Gonzaga won't be caught looking ahead to the big showdown with Eddie Sutton and San Francisco. What? What's so funny about that?
