Game of the Night
Pittsburgh 69 Georgetown 60
You know those gay little pop songs that you hear on the radio, tell everyone that you hate, but secretly enjoy them and sing at the top of your lungs when you're alone in the car? Well, I'm not denying my love for this Pitt Panthers squad any longer. I've been a Pitt hater for close to five years now, thanks to boring play and perennially Sweet 16 flops, but the grit of this squad has converted me. The Panthers are playing as hard as anyone in college hoops when you have forgiven them for moping a bit after losing starters Levance Fields and Mike Cook. As for last night, the Oakland Zoo was rocking and Ronald Ramon was on fire in the upset of the Hoyas. As for Gtown, they had this upset a long-time coming after walking on eggshells for weeks.
Also Intriguing
Kansas 85 Oklahoma 55
I think that this is already the 4th time this season that I'm going to claim that I've seen the Jayhawks at their best. They gave a very talented Oklahoma squad a woodshed beatdown last night at the Fieldhouse. The extremely balanced Jayhawks were led by 17 from Darnell Jackson and 16 from Brandon Rush. Somehow, this squad is still flying below the causal fans' radar.
Mid-Major Spotlight
Gonzaga 92 Pepperdine 57
Thanks to some early season losses, people seem to sleeping on the Zags. A #9 BBstate ranking suggests that the Zags should once again be a force in March.
