Assistant Coach Out at IU Over Phone Calls

Wow, I'm really starting to regret the "Indiana, Final Four" pick that I made exactly one day ago. I really should have put into account "bad karma" and "coaching chaos" before making that pick, because the Kelvin Samspon phonegate saga seems to be turning into a circus.

Earlier today, Indiana assistant coach Rob Senderoff resigned because of his involvement in the phone related recruiting violations along with head coach Kelvin Sampson.

In a report that Indiana sent to the NCAA Committee on Infractions earlier this month, the university detailed more than 100 potential impermissible calls, including 35 which it determined to be "possible" NCAA secondary violations. The majority of those calls were made by Senderoff.

Looks like Senderoff became the sacrificial lamb for the university (The Meaningful Collateral brings up a great point, why on Earth would anyone ever want to be an assistant coach these days?). If I'm an IU fan right now, I'm requesting that they start ripping out the pay phone inside Assembly Hall and cancel all of Sampson's cell phone packages ASAP. Don't let Eric Gordon go to waste....
