Auto-Bid Watch: Championship Week

From here on out, Auto-Bid Watch will be a running tally of who's in and who's out of the auto-bid picture. I'll be tracking who makes each conference tourney, and who's been knocked out, every day.

We'll start our sojourn with the leagues that will crown a champion on March 8th (or before), and add more leagues as they get going. Teams are ranked according to seed. I'll also be keeping a running tally of bids won in the header so you don't have to scroll if'n you don't want to.

Patriot League Madness?? Navy goes down and my Bison are still alive...

Captain Redbeard said...

I hope there is footage out there of the Bucknell win. 40 footer by Griffin to win the game! Go BU!

Marco said...

You serious about Bucknell?? I'm on it...

Eric (Extra P.) said...

I guess American will probably have to go through your Bison if they want that first-ever bid.

The Big South is the only bracket with no upsets so far. The top four seeds squished the bottom four and moved on.

The Madness has begun!

Not a good day in the patriot league. My hometown Lafeyette Leopards and Lehigh Mountain Hawks both go down.

No love for the NEC? The tournament starts today

Eric (Extra P.) said...

Huge love for the NEC, Anon., just procrastinated a little to long on putting their lineup in there.

If you want to hear the BU radio call of the Griffin shot (and I warn you the announcer is the biggest homer ever) it is here: http://www.sportsjuice.com/broadcaster2.aspx?bid=MjI%3d-QVoZI6UaHbM%3d

Top link below Archives. Griffin's shot is at 3:07:10.

Video of the shot here too from (oddly) a Louisville blog: http://www.cardchronicle.com/story/2008/3/6/11257/54383

Big Kenny Lives! UNC-Asheville-Wintrhop is going to be a great start to Championship Week

Digital Headbutt said...

The NEC is the chalky bracket to end all chalky brackets.

Extra P: Don't blame procrastination. It is strict STF policy for Guillermo to be the fall guy.

(insanely obscure running joke)

NOOO! My dream of seeing Big Kenny dance are dashed!!

Eric (Extra P.) said...

A dark day indeed, Anon.

Digital Headbutt said...

Do we at least still have Chief Kickingstallionsims?

Eric (Extra P.) said...

Yes, Chief is still with us. For some reason, the SWAC names their champion on March 16th, on the same day as most of the major conferences do. Seems like a marvelous way to get lost in the shuffle to me, but that's the way they do.

Jameson said...

And the bubble shrinks by one thanks to VCU.

Jameson said...

And i see it took you about five minutes to cross SU off.

I'm officially convinced this team does that exact opposite you expect them too. You would think coming off a big win against MArquette, and playing well also, they would take it 'Nova.

But no, they play well for about a ten minute stretch in the first half and then roll over.

All bridges in Syracuse should be heavily patrolled.

GMoney said...

I look forward to hearing Jim Boeheim's ugly ass crying about how they should get in the tournament.

BD said...

And 'Cuse is officially eliminated. Interestingly 'Nova may not need to beat the Hoyas after winning so handedly in this one.

Eric (Extra P.) said...

Strangely enough, I haven't gotten any bitter emails or comments from St. Louis fans, who were crossed off at the same time.

Eric (Extra P.) said...

But that could be because they lost any semblance of pride when Majerus whipped his unit out.

Jameson said...

@Gmoney

I dont think Boeheim has much to whine about after losing the way they did. He may have to whine if they aren't a one seed in the NIT.

Dammit I don't want three more home games that I have to cheer my guts out at.

Marco said...

I'm somewhat excited for SJU-Temple tomorrow

Hell of a slugfest between Miami and Kent State last night with conference MVP Al Fisher hitting a runner with 3 seconds left to set up the HUGE Kent/Akron rematch tonight.
