Profit Sharing for College Hoops?

I think we all love the NCAA tournament, and most of us who read this blog would declare it to be the most exciting championship in sports. But for those of us who like a little variety, and have a lot of respect for proud programs languishing in the teens of the seeding (if they're lucky), it's worth our while to examine the economics of where the NCAA's money goes.

Fortunately, you don't have to listen to me struggle to explain it all. Lindsey Luebchow of the Higher Ed Watch Blog has followed the money trail for us, and makes a compelling argument that in order to serve their mission statement to promote collegiate athletics, the NCAA should start distributing revenue a little differently.

A little competition on a level playing field is good for the overall health of the sport, right?
