STF Road Trip: Hofstra at VCU 1/12/2008

Whenever possible, we like to get out on the road and see games in person. Then we like to share the experience with you via photos.

This weekend, I made the one-hour drive to Richmond to see Hofstra and Virginia Commonwealth go at one another in the CAA. I was finally able to meet up with our CAA correspondent Michael Litos, who was doing his radio color analyst gig. At one point, his broadcast was knocked off the air when a Hofstra player crashed into press row while going after a loose ball. Talk about up close and personal. I was sitting several chairs down from him, directly to the left of the Hofstra play-by-play man, so that's the vantage point these photos come from.

This is just a short sample, however, the rest of the set can be seen here: [flickr]

The game itself was a fairly exciting, up-and-down affair, though the final score of 59-49 in VCU's favor might belie that fact. There was some good interior defense from both teams, as they combined for 15 blocks (Hofstra's Dane Johnson had 4), and lousy outside shooting (Hofstra as a team was ofer-eleven). It was a worthy experience, in a nice, shiny building. I highly recommend it.
