The former most hated man in college basketball, the always subdued Joakim Noah, was back into the news this week for all the wrong reasons. Apparently, the Chicago Bulls organization share the same feelings as the ill-will towards Noah as most college hoops fans do, as both the coaches and players agreed to suspended Noah a few games following an altercation with a Bulls coach. Glad to see Noah has matured since entering the professional world.
The return of Noah to the news got me thinking, do we even have a most hated man in college basketball this season? Noah was easily the man last year, and JJ Reddick and Adam Morrison claimed the two seasons before that. This season? I’m completely at a loss. Call me a softie, but I kind of like everyone in college hoops this year. Most of the superstars have little to no ego and even the outstanding freshmen class is extremely likable. The easy cop-out here would be just name anyone on Duke the most hated player, the players most everyone seems to despise (Paulus and Scheyer come to mind) can hardly be considered stars.
So let’s hear it college hoops fans, who do you hate this season?

I think Josh Heytvelt is still hated by his own teammates quite a bit.
Other than that, I'd bet there's a fair number of ACC fans who don't much like Hansbrough.

I'm tempted to say OJ Mayo but even he has been very subdued. Maybe this year is the year everyone behaves.
Tyler Hansbrough is a walking handjob who has worse post moves than Bryant Reeves.
I was expecting to hate Mayo as well, and even he hasn't been as bad as advertised.
I don't mind Ty Hansbrough that much, Its "psycho-T" I hate. It is a weak ass nickname and TV guys freakout when he gets a rebound. Plus the guy is a lock to be a total NBA bust and that bugs me a little also.
I wrote at the beginning of the year that it would be Drew Neitzel. He hasn't really lived up (or is it 'lived down'?) to that billing. I'm waiting on some more televised games for him to establish himself. I think Taylor King at Duke is a prodigy in terms of hateability. Once he gets the minutes, who knows what people will be chanting at him.
Also, we are forgetting many of the top teams haven't played a lot of in-conference road games yet so opposing fans haven't gotten a chance to berate anyone.
manchild nails it. It's not Hansbrough that bugs me, it's commentators slobbering over him. Same goes for Kevin Love and O.J. Mayo: here in Southern California, "Love vs. Mayo" is talked about like "Bird vs. Magic."
Dookies get DQ'd automatically for me, since I hate 'em all by default. Sean Singletary would get my vote, but his team's not good enough to get riled up over.

I kind of figured that Hansbrough would be the man marked for hatred this year. He's the most hyped player on one of the nation's most prominent squads.
If you must pick a Dookie to hate, I suggest Gerald Henderson, but "Scheyerface" is too good to ignore.

Tyler Hansbrough - Amazing college player. POY material. Hated for looking dumb, love from media, and being outstanding.
JJ Reddick - Amazing college player. was POY. Hated for being dumb (read his poetry), DUI, and being outstanding.
Adam Morrison - Amazing college player. POY material. Hated for being strange (Marxist), mustache, and being outstanding.
Joakim Noah - Good college player. If you can't hate him for being the best player on the floor, the other reasons are much more important. Noah is the only one besides possibly Reddick (no excuse for DUI)in that group that deserves hatred. JJ at least made up for it by being unstoppable.

It was very tempting to go with Neitzel, Paulus or Hansborough, but I would have to say AJ Graves - only because he is one of the goofiest looking white boys on the planet, mid-calf white socks included. Plus, I'm just jealous of his shooting skills...
Outside of my natural inclination to hate all things UNC and Duke(I'm a Virginia fan), I'd say Mayo is rapidly achieving Noah status.

Most people in Big T1e1n country seethe at the sight of Naymick ("Big Red") from MSU. He's not necessarily evil or a prick or anything, but he's just one of those guys that you look at and instantly hate.
Noah was glorified college version of Anderson Varejao, a good energy guy who will never start on any contender. The fact he was picked in the lottery tells you how bad the Bulls management currently is.
Hansbrough. Hands down. He's a douchey kid who gets all the calls, is a sure fire NBA bust, and he has a bonechillingly gay nickname.

Usually, really hatable guys are on teams that can beat you in your own building - because that's when they REALLLY piss you off. If you can rub their face in the final score, the hate is pretty easy to let go.

I'd say Hansbrough, Paulus, Lorenzo Mata (UCLA) and maybe Kyle Singler (Duke) qualify for most, if not all of the above.
Perhaps the reason there are so many Blue Devils on this list is because they could start the game with a whitewash, and compete with anybody.
