Monday Madness

Who were the studs and who were the duds in men's college basketball this week?  Well we have a list of six games all with low college basketball scores.  The spread on these games - with the exception of one - were all within 10 to 20 points of one another.  The high college basketball scores were not to be had in five of these games.

In men's college basketball, Ohio led Indiana State 62 to 50 with Jerome Tillman scoring for 18 points, going 8 of 8 at the free throw line during their game at Freedom Hall.  Steven Coleman scored 16 points with Justin Orr popping 15 through the net and Ohio will get to meet Xavier on Wednesday. Those are pretty impressive college basketball scores in men's college basketball.

Number 9 seeded Louisville beat Lamar 78 to 56 and Samardo Samuels helped the team win with 15 points and keep up the college basketball scores.  Watching them play, Louisville used a very even attack to keep Lamar down with Jerry Smith scoring 12 points and Terrence Williams scoring 5.  Louisville had already ousted Indiana State and Ohio in the previous two men's college basketball rounds.

The big college basketball scores in this bunch?  Number 19 Georgetown walking all over Savannah State 100 to 38.  Playing at the Verizon Center, DaJuan Summers, Austin Freeman, and Jessie Sapp each helped push Georgetown to its 100 points by scoring 14 points apiece, improving their college basketball scores.  Georgetown's defense was simply stifling and Savannah never had a chance to rebound themselves. They are a great team in men's college basketball.

Things weren't so sunny for the men's college basketball team from Hawaii as the Illinois Fighting Illini took down the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in a non-conference match.  Mike Davis netted 10 points and Petra Balocka scored a whopping 21 to put the Illini ahead in the college basketball scores.  28 points were scored off of the 22 turnovers Hawaii let slide by.

TCU took down Witchita State 57 to 48 while San Jose State clashed with San Diego to win 56 to 52.

With all this action going on, the player power rankings in men's college basketball has shifted yet again.  Three players keep dueling for the top shooting guard spot and they have been influencing the college basketball scores like crazy.  Jerel McNeal, who plays for Marquette bounded past Purdue's E'Twaun Moore, helping his team, the Golden Eagles win over their rival Wisconsin this past week.  McNeal scored 26 points with seven rebounds and did everything he possibly could to help his team win.

Manny Harris has been right behind McNeal in an effort to bump him out of his top shooting spot.  Harris moved up from the number six spot in men's college basketball to the number three position and scored 17 points to help his team out.  His college basketball scores have helped him move from his original scoring position of number 20 at the beginning of the season.

Sam Young, who plays for Pittsburgh, has worked his way into the forward rankings and has made it to the number 2 spot.  Vying with McNeal and Harris for the coveted number one shooting position, his climb has been steady and he has been averaging 25 points and 8 rebounds every game.

Of course, the power rankings of each player fluctuates during the season, and even though they measure the overall career performance of the player they could easily change as the men's college basketball season continues to progress. What is the game everyone is watching this week?  The Memphis at Georgetown game that is being played on Saturday.  While it is non-marquee week, both teams are hoping to redeem losses to Xavier and Tennessee.  The two freshmen to watch out for during the game are Greg Monroe and Tyreke Evans.
